Preparation
Dice the onion and mince the garlic for the tomato sauce. Sweat the onion and garlic in hot olive oil in a pot. Stir in the diced tomatoes and tomato purée, then add the basil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer for 10-15 minutes while occasionally stirring.
